I love this coffeepot. For years I used a different model from Hamilton Beach, a carafe-less style. Sadly, my old one broke after many years, and the replacement in the same style was a leaking coffee boiling disaster. After some horrible failures with similar styles but different brands I went back to Hamilton Beach and tried a different style. The reason I had used a carafe free style was that I hated how pots always seemed to drip, no matter how slowly and carefully you poured. This pot does not, yay. I've always kept the pot by the sink to make filling it easier but this detachable container makes filling a breeze, and now my coffeepot can be in a more convenient location than perched next to the sink. The adjustable warming plate temperature is a huuuuge win in my book, I keep coffee going all day and the ability to lower the warming plate temperature slightly means never getting a bitter cup. The warming plate will actually stay on for two hours, and on the rare occasions a pot survives that long the coffee still tastes fresh brewed on the middle temp setting while remaining nicely hot. The cleaning warning comes on after 30 pots I think, the clean cycle takes a bit of time - but seems to rely on steeping the small amount of vinegar required through the system rather than repeated high heat fast cycles. I like this and it seems to work well. I read many reviews before buying, I'd like to address some of the most common negatives I saw. Leaking water reservoir - I did find it necessary the first couple of weeks to press firmly down on the reservoir after placing it on the machine, no leaks. I'd rather the gasket was a bit tight than not so this doesn't seem unreasonable. I saw complaints that the reservoir lid just sat on top of it rather than fitting tightly, I'm not sure how these reviewers expected water would would be able to dispense from a sealed container. When the lid is in place it is reasonably flush with the top of the coffee maker and looks fine. Yes, the strong brew setting is slow. Just like it is on every model out there - that's what makes it stronger! The regular brew setting is no slower than reasonable and also produces good coffee. My first pot is on regular setting, and successive pots once I'm not jonesing for my first cup use the strong brew. They're both good coffee. Yes, the swing out filter basket holder is plastic, don't do chin ups on it. I cannot speak to the timer function, our schedules are all over the map and the first person up just turns on the pot prepared the night before. Again, we do this every night and have had zero leaks. Oh, and right out of the box after following 'before first use' instructions, there was NO funky chemical taste. That's a big plus in my book, and better by far than much more expensive pots I tried. I love this coffee pot!  Read Less
