There are two threaded rings the upper one is to tighten and fix on the zoom h4n the lower one is to lock it onto the hotshoe

I loosened the lower ring first so it will slide into the hotshoe and tightened it securely

I got this one for my canon 600d and it was great to use when i wanted to record my video

Little over priced but does the job

If it were metal it would probably be stronger than the hotshoe and damage the more expensive camera
