The stand seems sturdy enough, although it is a little lacking in the hight adjustment range. As for “thickness”, the majority of the lamp is a pretty thin metal rod, but it gets the job done.
This does everything it's supposed to, but it is very institutional/utilitarian looking. This thing is great! Super happy with our purchase.

We had duct taped the lamp to the old terrarium which caused it to sit too close to glass and it messed up the terrarium and sat pretty low

Get some clipssomething to hold the wiring tho the wire placement on the stand itself sucks at holding the wire in place but you can tie the wire down with string even so its not that big a deal

Stand is ok better than the lights sitting right on the top of the cage in the fixture
