The pumps are not enclosed, but rather have a series of large vent-holes along the casing where motor windings are clearly visible. If any moisture gets into these holes, the motor dies and the pump is useless.

Noise is as expected can only hear if close to pump area

Btw it has regular water build up to pump out so it doesnt stay dry and never get any use
