It requires a 6 inch gap in the vertical discharge tube and some “maneuvering “ of the pipes to fit it on the upper and lower sections

The quiet check valve did effectively eliminate the water hammer thump when my sump pump stops but the sprung valve flapper design introduced a whole new and completely unexpected noise there is a loud farting sound when the pump starts as it blows the air from the short section of empty pipe below the valve drained via the pump manufacturer recommended weep hole through the valve for a second or so each time

This is effectively a valve chatter phenomenon whose noise is coupled to my house via the drain line mounted to the joists in my basement resulting in a startlingly loud and offensive sound
