Bought this for my daily 4 mile walk in wyoming where there is very little shade. Helps to keep me cooler and (probably) protects my skin from sun damage.
It's long and you can't but clank it on the ground as you walk with it's curved handle. The curved handle makes it easy to hook around my wrist while i carry her.
Cons
This umbrella feels and looks like it cost me and arm and leg. Not durable at all. I'm not sure how it will fare against the wind.

It’s sturdy and so far i haven’t had any issues
So far they seem strong and durable
Previous umbrellas had buttons that were inside the handle and they would get jammed but this one doesnt
It feels very sturdy but it is a little bit on the heavy side due to the sturdiness
Price
Not perfect but so far so good for the money
But there is a price to pay for the spring loaded autoopen feature in order to close it you have to overcome the pressure of that spring
Packaging/appearance
The box it was sent it looks great which tells me it left the warehouse and was packed with the damaged handle
Wished it was packed better in the shipping box but oh well it didnt come damaged

Add some arthritis in the fingers and hand and it will be impossible for them

For an elderly person id stick with the traditional unsprung umbrella mechanism

Also the weight of this umbrella about 20 oz 550 grams could become tiresome for some if the distance is far
