Pros
A very solidly-built toe clip. Super sturdy and easy to install. Had to think about the mounting. Ended with a couple of wood screws with silicone sealant as backup.
Good for a casual bicyclist like me. Give me what i want without the worry of my foot having no escape route in case i need to jettison my foot in an emergency. The toe clip allow the rider keep the pedaling very stable.
Easy to flip into, hold my feet in place in rough terrain, help transfer power on upstrokes. Do provide stability on the pedal and some assist on the upstroke.
Zefal mountain bike toe clips are available in s/m and l/xl sizes. The small/large size cutoff is size 9, so if you have bigger feet than that i would go for the large.
Replaced the crank brothers egg beaters, with wide standard pedal and these. Each pedal is different. With the l/xl clip, the ball of my foot is well aligned with the axle of the pedal, about exactly the same as with my old strapped clips.
Cons
Lasted 2 rides. They’re flimsy and offer no benefit. Too narrow for the pedals screw base. Company says they will fit if i slide them over on the pedal. Will try again with washers, fat headed bolts etc.

Biked a hundred miles easily in traffic with these this summer and no concerns for getting onoff my pedals or the integrity of the product
With the sm clip the ball of my foot is too far behind the axle of the pedal as if im riding on tiptoes
You can ride farther for the same fatigueenergy

This will keep me in the saddle
They are really comfy to use and your feet do not slide around on the peddles
Competitiveness
I installed the half toe clips on my “freerelease” heybike race max ebike pedals
These will not fit a wellgo b087 pedal
Switched to sdl clipless and rode them for more years and years
They dont really deliver the same level of upstroke pull force as a clipless system but im doing long endurance rides and dont care

You will have to remove the reflector on the pedal if you have one easily done with a plier then simply knock out the plastic left in the two holes of the pedal with a nail and hammer
