The bowls inside are made of stainless steel and is held by locking tabs 3 for each bowl the locks look like the ones you see at the back of a picture frame but these are not plain locking tabs if you look at it closely they are shaped as dogs

I think you can put food inside a dry food and it will be ok to travel or bring it that way but no water put the water only when you opened it and are feeding your pet otherwise it will spill
