Pros

The yale lock weighs a ton and feels very sturdy and well made. Like all u locks, the downside is the weight, and this pretty heavy.

The mechanism is very simple and easy to use. The keyway has a sliding plastic cover to protect from rain. Seems like a reasonably robust d lock.

This yale lock has the'sold secure gold' rating my insurance provider requires some home contents insurance providers cover bikes as part of their home contents package) the cable is very tough and well made. Build quality is fantastic, gold secure ra...  Read More

It comes with 4 keys, one of which has a tiny led light to help you find your keyhole in the dark. The key unlocks the whole fixing bar - some cheaper ones have been hinged - which can make it awkward to fit round some fixing places. Main key has ligh...  Read More

The fixing clamp is good and solid, with two lengths of fixing bolts to account for thicker frames. There is a good frame bracket with a positive twist and lock action which i like. There's a little screw for a hex key so you can slide it up and down ...  Read More

Cons

Even with maintenance following the official guidelines, the lock jamms and the keys break a mere 6 weeks after purchasing it. Lesson learnt; avoid yale and buy quality. Rusting within 5 months.

Ive added the mounting bracket for the bike in the only place i could fit it within the frame where it doesnt touch anything

Cable long enough and seems pretty tough to put off an opportunist thief

It is a kilo and a bit but when mounted on the bike i cant really tell any difference when i ride it

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Please note the little plastic thing on the u bend of the lock that is used to attach to the mount on the bike frame this is not in the correct position when you purchase it theres a little screw for a hex key so you can slide it up and down the bend into the position you need it in but you need a really small hex key almost precision size which youre unlikely to have in lying around in your house

It is quite smaller than the ones you use for furniture i wish i could tell you the exact size

Im really struggling to find faults but if i absolutely had to the battery compartment on the little lamp on the key is a touch flimsy

Let’s be honest here if a determined thief wants your bike then they’ll find a way around any lock

The yale lock will hopefully make a thief move on to a less well secured bike rather than risk detection taking the extra time to steal yours
