I personally would double the strap up and sew the other part onto the buckle so that you have twice the strength

To use them so they wont slip you have to tread them up through the bottom and up through the serrated clamp so when you pull on it the clamp pulls down and locks the strap

If you thread them through the front they will slip because the clamp cant grab and hold
