Pros & Cons
Pros
The xlux appears accurate based on rainfall and watering. The probes are sturdy but don't try to force them into hard soils. You need to use fine sandpaper on the end of the probe to remove oxides.
Saves a lot of water and money over the years. No more guessing whether there is a need for water. Every year the exalted one buys beautiful, expensive hanging baskets.
Cons
It seems the way this work relies on dis-similar metals to create an electric voltage which makes the meter move - there are no batteries. Started off great but turned into a piece of useless junk.
Highlights
Quality
It is very well made and should last a lifetime
This probe is easy to use and seems to be sturdy
Do not leave probes stuck in soil for more than 1 hour or the tip of the probe will corrode and stop working
So i decided to ensure the roots are not getting too much moisture which i determined as soon as the probes were stuck deep in the pot
Price
Great price and 34true readings on soil moisture
I bought this as a two pack so it was a great deal
Cost 100 at home depot and the lady who checked me out said to monitor the water and that it doesnt need as much as you think
Shipping
They took about two weeks to arrive and they have helped me a ton so far
Packaging/appearance
The package it was in was too small for the product and one end of the package was opened never sealed
Competitiveness
Compared to the shorter versions these longer ones feel a little more fragile
