In my case the criminals leant the bike over to attack the lock not realising the disc lock had an alarm

Installing the battery is extremely awkward and you can easily break the product while doing it

My advice first practice assembling and dissembling the battery compartment without actually installing the battery because once the battery is in place the alarm starts to yell at you loudly in some 3 seconds unless you manage to put the device back together during this time

The xx10 and xx14 both have double locking mechanisms so wouldve been preferable but the size of the locking pin would not have fit on my bike

Many reviews have commented on the difficulty in getting the battery in the alarm without setting it off as much as i dont think it is as hard as some people have found one review the chap said he ended up hitting it with a sledge hammer and binning it why you wouldnt just send it back or use it without the alarm is beyond me

The alarm itself only lasts for 10 second bursts but there is no ability to turn it off as it is controlled by two sensors inside the unit
