Maybe 10 plays later the plastic catch of the lid bent and then broke off a little later the battery stopped charging fully so the sound would stop midway and now the sound died completely even when plugged into power source

It had the same problem with lid breaking off from the hinges with soft use but it had worked faithfully and now just died
