The bags are sturdy, strong, and the edges seem like they are reinforced well. They're single-layer poly and rated for 100lb. These bags are tough and well-constructed, roomy too!
Cons
Sand bags are very heavy duty bags, but unfortunately not water-tight. The material is similar to a a huge rice sack. They are more hassle than help for me.
