Pros & Cons

Pros

Needless to say, i'm pumped to jump into the next couple of books. My only warning is that the finale of the first season is almost perfectly at 50% of the book.

Juliette's relationships with others is fraught with heartache, anxiety and mistrust. The story line takes you to a crazy (but not too far off world) that provides excellent commentary on what the human race’s natural tendency is.

Wool immediately had me hooked, hugh knows how to start a story. Hugh is no stranger to creating the reality which is that there isn't always a happy ending. The more i learned, the more invested i became.

Cons

Do yourself a favor, skim it before you buy it. It's mind numbing how bad it is. Paperback version is a horrible mess.

It's the weakest dystopian setting i have ever read about. Even worse, those she is solving this problem for seem to see the situation as a problem, too. If people ever become this mentally weak and pliable, they would deserve to perish.

By page 150, after way too many trips up and down the silo stairwell, i was ready to don one of those inadequate environmental suits and head for the surface. The silo is extremely deep (150 levels) but nobody thought to put in an elevator?

The gun fights are inauthentic. The silo has a source of crude oil, somehow refines it and then burns the fuel in generators for electricity. It has no discernible purpose anyway.

The author is a limp noodle without serious talent or ideas. The glue on the spine isn’t proper to keep all the pages in. It's very difficult to read because i can't set it on the table upright.
