Pros & Cons
Pros
Hanger feet can be removed and reinserted into the feeder to be able to place this heavy feeder on larger sturdier branches. I have it on the heaviest setting and have seen it prevent a squirrel and large black bird from feeding. Had a wooden perch, w... Read More
Attractive, sturdy, easy to fill. Holds more than 10 lbs of seed. It is very easy to refill, and the base of it is extremely sturdy. Effective at preventing squirrel feedings and large capacity so little refilling needed.
Twice the birds. Three thumbs up. Highly recommended. This is my 3rd bird feeder, so i obviously like it!
Cons
The bar to hang onto an existing pole is very flimsy and moves around a lot. The pole is too short to add a baffle.

It is well made and withstands our hard maine winters
Great construction and a clever device that closes when heavier birds like blackbirds and pigeons land on the bar to feed
The color red fades after a single year of use and looks ugly
Bears are fairly clever and this one climbed the tree pulled up the rope the feeder was suspended from and tore it free from it... Read More

As a matter of fact i haven’t had to refill it yet so that’s a big savings in bird seed which has gotten quite pricey
Construction was not sturdy for the expensive price

It will need to be repainted and i will likely repaint it with blue or green colors

Also while birds do use the red colored feeder it is clear that they prefer the green feeder

As for 34squirrel proof34 there is really no such thing but it does make it far more difficult for squirrels to eat all the seed

I use only black oil sunflower seeds which attract most birds and squirrels lime them too but these feeder types prevent too much seed from being eaten by squirrels

I own three of these ranging in age from 2 to 5 years

The squirrels can get to the feeder but the shutter system closes and keeps the critters from getting to the seed
