Only after i contacted company and read customer comments did i realize the only way the charger will expand to accommodate your phone is after it is plugged into power source

I also had my phone fall out of the charger which made me think it doesnt always auto clamp on

You also have to remember to remove your phone from the charger before you turn off the car
