Didnt have to open the nat in this router only on my main router

It allowed me to choose my own password so i wasnt stuck with a multiple digit sign in that looks like a cars vin number

I purchased this to extend the wifi range of my centurylink c3000z router

However i believe the problem arises out of how long you actually press the button on the extender itself
