Pros & Cons
Pros
It seems to stick pretty close to actual history, at least from my recollection. It is also very different from the books in his new la quartet series.
Have a ball kiddies. That is not to say that it is not amusing and entertaining.
The main character, freddy otash, is an ex-cop turned shakedown artist/private eye/dirt-digging goon for confidential magazine. Ellroy's otash also tries to solve three mysterious murders of women whom he knew personally.
Cons
This book is not up to *. This book grew painful.
There is no panic in widespread panic and if there is it certainly isn't widespread. But w widespread panic is an embarrassment. Such a disappointment.
