Pros
The whirlpool air purification system is quiet and efficient. The filters aren't cheap, but they last an entire year. A pre filter is to keep the larger dust particle from clogging the hepa filter prematurely. It lasts a very long time.
This fit into my air purifier perfectly and works like a charm. It fits perfectly and does not have a chemical smell.
Cons
This product is not the whirlpool branded product. After two days running outside it still reeks. It reeks of glue.

Whirlpool 1183051k hepa filter small have gone through the original hepa filter and have just replaced that with another after about one year

With that said i see the reason for a pre filter is to keep the larger dust particle from clogging the hepa filter prematurely which is a good thing in my case because all the apartments in our building have above average amounts of air born dust

The list price of this hepa filter seems high at first but it lasted over a year under the conditions i just described
