Pros

This is one of the easiest whetstones that i have ever used. It's easy to use, works great, and came with a virtual brochure. As much as i really like this sharpener, it's not ideal for beginners.

The marto katana has a european-type compound edge as opposed to the traditional japanese flat edge. It sharpens my kitchen knives great. Being a beginner, the guide helps a lot and made sharpening easier. Sharpens my knives just fine.

The base/stand has a rubberized bottom to prevent slippage on tables or countertops. The base that came with the product really works to stabilized the stone.

Cons

If you want sharp blades use the bottom of a ceramic coffee cup and save your money. The guide is horrible. I'm disappointed wanted this to work a great deal.
