Pros

Belkin's thread plug works great with homekit and siri. Works with apple's home app to set it up on your home wifi network.

Setup takes less than 2 minutes, and the thing just plain works. Then configure it. Very easy, and zero hassles. Quick to respond and works flawlessly. Scan the qr code, wait a few and there it is.

Cons

Stay away from these plugs for now. They're too expensive for the reliability problems and they'll drive you nuts. Cheaper solutions are seamless, but belkin pricier device is complete trash.

The problem is wemo put that qr code on the back of the outlet, so you have to unplug it. The plugs are still on the original timers/schedules, but i am unable to use the app to turn on off or revise the schedule. I now need to manually turn on/off wh... Read More

Stay away. Do not play nice with alexa. Such a disappointment. Customer service is terrible.

The app insists on helpfully remembering devices you are trying to neutralize. But the wireless range is terrible. The router is not far, maybe 30-40 feet away with one wall apart. Try disabling private wi-fi address on ios.

So when i was first looking at buying these plugs they were 25 a piece instead i got returned ones from 12 a piece

Competitiveness

They do only work with apple devices so that could be the reason but still they are clearly branded as apple homekit tech

Thread is similar to zigbee but uses an apple tv or homepod as a border router
