They came attached so at first i tried forcing the phone into the case and it did not work

I eventually realized that i had to separate the two pieces of the case just fitting a coin or dull blade in the small slots on the side and twisting to release the top piece

The back of the case sits just below the height of camera section so the camera lenses do not receive extra protection and in fact are a bit more exposed than the case

The pixel 8 design inherently protects the camera lenses so i dont see this as a significant flaw in this situation
