Pros
Seagate 8tb external usb 3. 255. Filled it to almost 2/3 capacity without a hitch. It has 8tb of storage and is a great solution for long-term storage.
It's difficult to get a definitive answer on which specific wd drives are cmr versus smr. It is a good product for backup, and this is my first time using the provided security and backup apps.
Cons
Seagate is much better quality. It vibrates all the time. It cracks, pops, whines and vibrates literally every 40 seconds and lasts for about 14 seconds. Too hot for use as data backup drive.
Despite their popularity as brand, thanks to deceptive marketing, they are not reliable. Though a failed fan is covered wdc will not honor the warranty.
As others have stated, the transfer speeds are nothing as promised. Could never be properly dismounted/ejected in windows. Disconnected during file transfers several times.

No power or disk activity light makes it annoying but works fine
