During the install i ended up only needing to put a coupler on the top of the new sump pump unit and cut some of the length off of my old discharge pipe and then attach the discharge pipe to the coupler on the new sump pump the wayne pump has a half inch inch discharge y what comes out of both pumps so you would need a half inch or half inch to quarter inch coupler to attach to the discharge pipe depending on the size of your discharge pipe

Position the main float so that it doesnt sit right under the pipe of the pit

Didnt want to repeat the same mistake as the previous owner so i looked for a quality system with a backup pump
