Pros
Water chef makes the best filters and shower units imho. Removes the chlorine smell from water.
Replacement cartridges, which are recommended every six months depending upon usage, are reasonably priced. Quality and customer service are nearly extinct, it's wonderful to deal with a company that stands by its product.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again, it is perfect for my needs. This is my 2nd one because i thought the first one is flawed. It is still soon to tell on the color results but i do like this item.
Only problem is we have an old home with low hanging shower fixtures. These are very fine fixtures.
Cons
It takes at least 5 minutes to wash the smallest bit of conditioner out of my thin, chin-length hair. This shower filter's output has *300* ppm (after 30 minutes of runtime), which is higher than the tap water itself.

Highlights
Quality
Feel much cleaner and heatlthier showering with the waterchef
Very pleased with the shower head and filter
With the filter the discoloration is almost nonexistent
Dont thing the little shower rings with the 10 layers of beads and other media would do as well
Packaging/appearance
I find it so much easier and less messy to unscrew the hose at the handheld end and direct the free hose end straight into the drain
It eliminates the the chlorine from the water

Cons if you live in a home with low water pressure the additional drop in water pressure caused by the installation of this unit may make the shower stream slow even further this is especially a concern if you are trying to use the showers water pressure to clean a dirty spot

Our homes incoming pressure is 35 psi and the bathroom is upstairs further lowering the water pressure

The showerhead can also develop uncleanable mold if used in humid climates though this problem is likely universal to most such showerheads

They are designed for use with a filter but we dont use the filter
