Pros & Cons
Pros
This product matches the oiled walnut finish used in finishing the stereo speaker cabinets from the 1960's. I wet sanded this into some walnut and the results were stunning.
There is some odor that will take a while to dissipate.
My navarro canoe has some wonderful wood ribs, gunnels, seats and thwarts. The watco helps it look great and preserve the wood in sometimes harsh environments. It feeds and protects the wood.
It’s hard to resist their siren song, “danish oil me! Used on an unfinished asia wood and brought out the red'ish tint. It gives the table a low gloss, but that is what i wanted for my teak.
Teak oil is a mixture of tung oil and linseed oil. Danish oil is a combination of phenolic resin/tung oil/varnish/mineral spirits. Watco danish oil seal and protect my wood projects with and without a lacquer or urethane topcoat.
Cons
This is the worst packaging design i have ever seen in my entire life. The cap requires a level of downward pressure that the can is unable to withstand. This item came completely thinned out.
Highlights
Quality
I keep going back to this product
Ive used it for refinishing and for new walnut work with the same results
Better left to a professional in a properly equipped shop with the proper ventilation required to spray lacquer
This product dries quickly when applied with a cloth and gives a hand rubbed look
Shipping
Get your waterlox or behlens before uncle samepa stops those products also from shipping too
Lastly watco is now not shipping their product to many states due to the crazy government control freaks
Packaging/appearance
Used on an unfinished asia wood and brought out the redish tint and has protected the table from olive oil spills
Competitiveness
I replaced the top on my old 20year’s bd workmate bench with 2x6 northern pine
