I previously owned a rechargeable clipper by Wahl, entry level, cost me maybe $32. It lasted a couple years, if that. Very lightweight, seemed to do a good job on my radically thinning 72 year old hair (or what's left of it). The new clipper, the Sterling 4, has much more heft to it. Somewhat the same type of clip-on cutting combs. This version is much sharper, much quieter, and gives me a much better cut than the cheapie clippers. Cost me over $100 with tax and shipping. Obviously the quality is much better the more one spends. Only design issue I have encountered is I can't just pop out the blade to get hair out of the housing. Mine came with no instructions or owner's manual, so I had to go hunting for that on the internet. Looks more complicated to take this apart to get rid of hair clippings, so I blow it out using canned compressed air. So far, I'm loving it. My barber retired or I wouldn't have bothered getting any clippers and doing it myself. Glad I bought this version.  Read Less

With the COVID-19 virus making it impossible to go out for a haircut, I looked around for a top barber quality hair clipping machine. I did several searches and this seemed to be the best option with removable charging cord. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of attachments that came with this. It also came with a professional for holding the hair when you clip. There are also three additional colorful clips that are just for personalization.The instructions said to charge the battery until the light goes out after approximately 5 hours. This actually happened in only 2 hours. I was not sure what attachment to put because I always get a number 2 at the barber. This one just had measurements of the thickness. I chose 3/16s. It worked like a charm. I needed my wife to do it for me to get the straight line in the back and to cut around the ears. It came out just as good as the barber.The important thing to keep it working well is to use the little brush that comes with it to clean all the hair off the device. You need to be very thorough when doing this. After you turn it back on and put drops of the oil that comes with it between the vibrating teeth. This is a very small bottle and the instructions say that you can only use Wahl oil. I am not sure how long this will last so I will order some more soon.Overall, I am very happy with this device. I can now save the $25-30 I spend at the barber and can actually cut my hair a lot more frequently so it will never look unruly. The cost savings will easily make up for the cost of the device and makes it a smart thing to invest in a barber quality clipper. I am very happy with this purchase! Highly recommended!  Read Less
