The cables are long enough to reach the battery and the obd port. Plugged vstm into the obdii connector 3) replaced the car's weak battery, 4) unplugged the vstm.

When you need to change a battery or unhook it for some reason you will need to reprogram phone system garage door opening system seat memory etc

I used the battery off our generator

Ran the cable through the passenger side window of the crosstrek plugged the obd ii end into crosstrek and then changed the crosstreks battery
