I was a little worried about getting hands too close to the opening of the kettle while it was still hot in case we wanted to refill it but this one has a lovely lever on the handle as you can see in the picture above

Its a very nostalgic sound when it does boil and the hot water pours out in a nice even stream without sending scalding steam up to where you have to hold the handle to be able to use the trigger to open the whistle in the spout

Whilst this is not suitable for an everyday kettle in our household due to size and time taken to boil this way compared with an electric version it is good for an emergency backup should the electric one fail or if there is a powercut gas hob
