I could not have used a steeper base and a flat base worked fine

The 20 moa base enables the full vertical range of the scope but the scope has 70 moa of adjustment more than enough for 1000 yards with a flat base

The reticle is easy to read and can be used rather than adjusting the knobs the lighted reticle is useful in low light but unnecessary in daylight
