Vornado is a recognizable company, and the replacement filters aren't that pricey. Large size in comparison to filter. Even replacing filters is straight forward.

The tornado creates an atmosphere that smells and seems clean and crisp. It releases such clean air with pure oxygen that every time i go in my bedroom i feel like i’m in the high mountains.
Cons
Trays and parts near the bulb are brittle and discolored. The pco stage is poorly shielded and leaks a ton of uvc light into the neighboring parts.

Again i wonder about the effectiveness of this since night time is when i really want to be sure that air quality is being optimized

Bottom line is that this is quite a good air purifier for a reasonable price
In my experience these are similar to the costs associated with most other purifiers
Looking up filters i found that they are competitively listed when cost is accounted for
Packaging/appearance
My daughter is a freshman university student and has to live the the student dormitories
Competitiveness
Out of the box the vornado unit seems to be good quality especially compared to some of the noname units ive tried in the past
It does have some awesome options though including a prefilter and a post carbon filter
The surface area of the filter is not as good as the winix unit
Reliability is questionable but im giving them a pass for now due to their new design 5year basic warranty and 10year warranty on the motor

Which is another great thing as forcing a unit to operate with restricted air flow puts undue strain on it which can lead to mechanical failure andor hazardous electrical issues
