It tends to slide and my son has to readjust the length almost every time he puts it back on or moves it from his back to his side and back again

Except that there is one engineering flaw that is really annoying the strap on the adjustable side has a tendency to turn sideways this is a little difficult to explain because the part holding the buckle is poorly designed
