Pros

The photo i uploaded is a mixed bag of hydroton and these viastone balls. The shapes are slightly irregular, but not too bad. The clay pebbles are nice and porous so i can see these being ideal for bacteria and algae to develop!

Used mine as added aeration in my potting soil mix. But i mostly use it to make the soil for my aroids lighter and help keep it from packing down. I am a landscape architect and this has impressed me with the great flexibility of the product.

The leca is varying sizes, which i rather like when used in pots but don't like the look in terrariums so tend to buy more uniform balls. It's easy to remove leca from the roots of cuttings.
