Just to be clear while looking at the images may give you the impression that it has a builtin thermometer it does not

There is a nob on top to set the temperature and it tells you was you have set but it does not tell you the actual temperature of the water

You want to measure the temperature in a spot far away from the heater otherwise the temperature you see will be influenced by whether or not the heater is actively heating

The instructions tell you it must be mounted vertically so you are stuck if your tank is not also tall

Although the description says that it must be fully submerged the instructions in the box say the top halfinch or so can be out of the water there is a marker line showing how much has to be submerged
