This device is cool to the touch, has a design which minimizes fingerprints on its case, was easy to install (they even provide screws and a screwdriver) the esata on this enclosure does well. It helps diffuse heat and seems sturdy.

Cons
It is very hard to get an ssd in and out of the interior tray. The top drive can't report smart data. If you try to write something to it large files freeze every time.
Outside enclosure is just a 4 sided metal sleeve. Flat-style connector standard isn't very durable in practice. Circuit board is flimsy.

It does not affect how i use the product

It maxes out at 345mbs which is way too slow and it was faster on my single ssds than raid0 on this case at 400mbs
Added noteafter comparing this to another esata enclosure this one was twice as fast
Again its a little slow on windows 7 due to a lack of uasp support but its acceptable and its very fast on all the other systems
Packaging/appearance
Most drives are not formatted out of the box
If you are running linux linux has a feature that right out of the box all usb ports are disabled
Competitiveness
It worked very well and i also used an enclosure to use the original 1tb toshiba hdd that came in the console as external storage
Other vantec enclosures have switches which makes this much easier
Overall a good purchase after having it about a monththe exterior of the enclosure is metal which i like
Well recently i decided it was time to update and purchased a 1tb ssd for an internal drive

The screw holes need to be adjusted so they do not hit the edge of the controller card when putting together

It strips the plastic hole out and does not hold the case together

I didnt believe it but worst case scenario i could sell it to a more technologically inclined friend or hold onto it until i found some other use for it

So as i stated previously it took me a long time to set this drive up but this was entirely due to user error on my part

It took me a long time to figure this part out but listen to me when i tell youyou can only reconfigure the drive by pressing the reset button
