I did want the carbon fibre one but it is twice the price so i settled
If the versatility of the vanguard is your key consideration though there isnt a better option that i know of at this price
Competitiveness
What a fantastic piece of kit at a fraction the cost of some of the competition
I use it with a manfrotto video head and have no problems
For this review i put a manfrotto junior geared head on top
The slik isnt as light as the jessops model but is lighter than the vanguard

The legs can be splayed outwards for stable low angle shooting and the entire centre column will swivel through a full 180 degrees so that your camera can be supported in almost any position imaginable

I was worried that the tripod would have problems with stability when holding a camera with a fairly heavy lens when positioned out to the side as the feet are hard plastic
