Having loved the first game in the series i was slightly put out by the fact that valkyria chronicles 2 was downgrade for handheld consoles valkyria chronicles 3 was unavailable and valkyria revolutions was simply a different series with the name slapped on

While the first game covered the persecution of darcsens re jewish holocaust as a core theme this game in particular seems to discuss the nature of nuclear warfare and weapons of mass destruction as a part of the core plot

One other improvement of the plot that the original never really managed was that it portrays both sides of the war near enough equally

There are about the same number of chapters but you will sometimes have two or three battles to play in each chapter stretching the game out somewhat

While the new apc vehicle puts a completely new spin on tactics now that you can charge groups of men forward without getting shot at

Every squad mate has their own story not just the main characters

This is a huge improvement over the first game where you might have had your favourite or best characters and simply stuck with them all the way though this game really makes you want to use everyone and gives you reasons to use the poor troops if only to make them better
