The instructions clearly say do not take the black rubber ring off they were right3

Putting the ring back on is really difficult and even if you get it on its not good enough it wont seal right

I like the fact that the bags are reusable but only to a point before needing to be replaced and they are a bit pricey which makes me want to conserve uses rather than vacuum seal everything and trust me i thought about it which is a bit of a disappointment
