Pros

Good moderately compact. it's big for a * ultralight backpacker kit. Designed for one handed operation and definitely best paired with a cut and fluff type fire fuse or tinder.

Cons

Blastmatch's 6 ferro rod with a striker broke within 3 minutes of being delivered. The spring mechanism was rotted away, along with half the rod. Blastmatch says it will not brake after the second use.

This is a total rip off in more ways than one. There's no reason for the overly complicated design of this product. Good idea, poor execution.

The ferrocerium rod is far too short for frozen hands to coax adequate enough sparks to ignite tinder. You have to really squeeze the side to get any sparks. Hard to get a good shower of sparks consistantly. Just buy a proper firestarter with waterpro... Read More
