Product can be used to power on your device from what i can tell however this may vary based on laptop model. It is very easy to plug into and the design is very simple. Connecting usb cable has a usb c end with a usb a adapter.
Although @ $300 this is on the high end and pricy, i decide to give it a try. It is very efficient. It has been a great addition to my everyday life.
Usb-c charging works as advertised. Usb ports are convenient for webcam (logitech brio) and keyboard. Thunderbolt port lets him leave his power brick plugged in by his recliner.
Cons
The real downfall of this dock is that it utilises displaylink. I was tasked with downloading drivers for my macbook pro to no avail. All of them work on the hdmi but not on the * which is not helping outputting to more than 1 monitor.

There are two software enhancements with the driver installation
Cheep cables will not give you good quality
This recent discovery isnt a make it or break it thing but am disappointed

It worked right out of the box with windows 10 and didnt require any drivers
I had to uninstall the displaylink manager and download and install the 34classic34 drivers from startech to make my setup work

I did not need to install displaylink proprietary drivers or do any fancy config using xorg
The default displaylink manager software does not support mac in clamshell mode macbook top closed

The other more at times frustrating quirk is the audio

This is a bizarre quirk and ive only been able to see fringe cases with other thunderbolt docks of this happening

Not sure if this is the dock itself a quirk of the laptop or a problem with thunderbolt 3 but while minor it can be irritating to constantly fix if you frequently dock and undock a laptop

You need displayport alt mode on your usbc port though check it before purchasing this

Although i am having some problems with the sleepclamshell mode of mac my laptop locks after a few second after i shut the screen and upon unlocking it again locks it after a few seconds
