It doesnt entirely replace a tape measure because it needs something to bounce the laser beam off

The critical reviews did mention some accuracy issues but suspected there was no issue with accuracy and that those people were simply misusing the device

Ive not tried the area pythagoras functions but those like the silly little spirit level are irrelevant to me i just wanted a cheap functional laser measure and thats exactly what i got

The only downfall is the buttons are a bit squishy bein a raised rubber design which means when you press it its difficult to keep the laser pointer on a small target
