I found that the holes i had piloted didnt quite line up correctly to allow for full closure of the lid due to the relative stiffness of the hinge vs

I ended up having about three extra exposed holes

To cover them i simply attached felt insulating tape to the inside of the grill after first wiping the area around the hole clean to maximize adhesion
