This product is an acid of some kind so you will need to be prepared to raise the ph

Anyway if you hate wasting water by draining to get calcium down this will work but follow directions on ph and be ready in phosphates

As far as cost effectiveness it’s probably the same as draining water plus the cost for chemicals rebalancing the pool
