When i plug in the external antenna in either unit, it does -nothing-. No change. Not returning, as its not worth the hassle.

Without the external antenna the signal was very weak and cut in and out

The utility of an antenna like this is not because it works better than the extendable whip that came on the radio it really doesnt by much

The real purpose is to get to a higher or different location like if your shelter is in the basement or the radio is behind a brick fireplace from the noaa transmitter

This folded dipole configuration will provide a couple db gain directionality over the telescoping whip but then that is eaten up by loss in the 16 of coax and the lowperformance rca connector

I bought this antenna as the room i have one of my radios has 3 computers and causes too much interference to the signal

Unless the antenna is positioned perfectly in tough terrain will it pick up the signal
