    It did not need sanding first and i gave it three coats of wilko furniture and cupboard paint sage green which went on very easily but needed three days to harden the paint after the final coat

    Did think of buying another one for books for the other side of the doors but it didnt work for me as the slats are the wrong way round and needed something to stop the books falling through
