If you get some glue making your buttons stick all you need is a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to wipe down the buttons
Make sure to not get the tape onto the screen itself other then a little bit to cover the top speaker

I rested the screen protector on the phone without removing the film from the glass in order to apply the tape properly to my wifes phone

After the initial curing i wiped off the excess glue and removed the tape
