The book is set in 1930s chicago. It's a multi-faceted plot in which al capone, elliot ness, and frank nitti are involved. Good classic detective novel with the fun plus of taking place in early 1930s in chicago - gangsters and corrupt politicians.

The real life characters work well with the fictional ones. All the characters are believable and well drawn. The first-person narrative includes some quite nice wry humor, although not overdone.

This mystery has a great pace, development and suspense. I like books like that instead of the ones that just seem to stop mid story leaving frustration. The writing is literate with some surprising twists.

It was throughly picked apart and will provide reading for years to come. Author has the ability to grab ahold of you and keep you wanting more. As good as or better than any of the author’s works that i’ve read.

Dan john miller does a great job narrating the audible version. Keith says check it out. This book introduces nate heller. Have downloaded book 2 and am eagerly looking forward to seeing nates next adventure.

My credit card was billed a total of $7. A shallow 2 dimensional protagonist. The meandering expositions are occasionally interesting but rarely advance the story.
