This is definitely not meant to be installed next to a work desk but its not super loud either as long as you can keep a good solid door shut where you install it you shouldnt be able to hear it everywhere in the officehouse

But it is well supported as a usb ups with generic drivers so you could be using a raspberry pi or any server you have to readshare status with other equipment

Fan controllers for small 12v fans are dirt cheap i cant figure out why they would try cut down costs there
