Pros

Tripplite units are a great battery backup. Keeps internet up during long outages, eg right now powers been out for over an hour. No lag or dropout when it loses wall power because it's always converting the power to dc and back to ac.

The smart500rt1u appliance comes with a small instruction manual that explains how to install and mount the hardware. The manner in which this device mounts to the rack is such that you do not need a tray to ensure it is secured.

Cons

It is quite loud and emits a buzzing noise in addition to the cooling fan noise. Plugging it back in, or after a batt test, the very loud squealing and buzzing returned.

The downtime alone is huge, and the out of pocket expense is salt in the wound. The web interface is total garbage. Stick with apc.
